How to make Cartoon Dolls

Ok.  I'll try and explain how to make cartoon dolls in the easiest way possible, even though it's really long.  Please read through this carefully and try it out for yourself before emailing me with any questions.

Part One: The beginning

  1. Download the program here (1966KB) windows version, sorry, I dunno where to get the mac version.
  2. Register for the software.  The official site is no longer operating.  I think you can get the code from http://www.avatarpalace.net but I'm not really sure.  If it doesn't work, email me at asher_girl@yahoo.com, put the subject as 'Palace Registration code' so I won't take it as junk mail, and then I'll send you a code.  It may take a couple of days for the code to arrive, as I do not use the internet everyday.  You're lucky if you get the code straight away.
Once you get that code, do not ever give that code to another user, because that will muck up your palace program, when your friend with the same code is on, you will be kicked off.   If your friend needs a code, email me with their email.

palace.bmp (541556 bytes)

When you open your Palace Software, it should look something like that.

Part Two: Getting to know your new friend, The Palace.

  1. It will ask you if you want to use the software as a guest or use your new registration code.  Copy and paste the rgistration code.   Or you can type it out if you like the long way.  It will ask you for your name and company.  Type your name and enter anything for the company, for example, Tommy & Snowie PTY LTD.
  2. A window like this should appear on the screen: wpe2F.jpg (8144 bytes)
Replace "New Friend" with your own name, or a nickname.
  3. Another window like this will appear: palaceconnect.bmp (141654 bytes)
It will have a different palace address, but type in the one above as you can pick up props (clothes) there.
The address will transport you to the palace site:  apalg4.gif (99571 bytes)
  4. You're looking for stuff to wear right?  So for now, go to "Drop Zones" and you step into a room, blue or red with little props everywhere.  Well, it should have props, but recently, people on this palace have been very discriminating towards each other.  Try the Take AV rooms instead.
  5. There's two ways that you can get your prop.  Here's the nicer way (if you see signs with "please copy don't take") click on the prop you want with your right mouse button.  This should work if you use a Windows, I dunno for Macs. A pop up menu should appear, click on "copy prop".  There, your first prop. Another way to do it is to drag the prop into your little bag thing:wpe31.jpg (882 bytes)(bottom right) and if you want to know what you've got so far, click on the bag and your props will appear like this (but more clearer): wpe32.jpg (70969 bytes) That's my prop bag, yours will be different.
  6. To wear stuff.  Simple.  Double click on the item you wanna wear, or just click "wear" until you have a full doll (head, top half, bottom half and legs), dressed in anything you want (or found so far)

An important reminder is to constantly back-up your prop file, because if your computer suddenly freezes, or a blackout, or anything, you will lose your props as the program will crash.  To back-up profile, there are 2 alternatives:

1.  Copy the Palace.prp file and place it in another folder, or
2.  Winzip the palace.prp file

If the program crashes:

1.  Reinstall the palace program
2.  Make sure that you do not have the program operating, if so, shut it down.
3.  Delete the new palace.prp
4.  Replace/extract your backed-up prop file into the folder where you have installed the Palace.

Part 3: The Making of the Cartoon doll.

  1. Go back to gate and into "Edit rooms" where you can make your pics coz of the white background
  2. This is the part you've been waiting for.  Ok.   You'll need some kind of screen capture program.  I use a program called "System infomation" looks like this: wpe1.jpg (106031 bytes) I dunno how to download it.  You might find some other program that can capture screens.
  3. If you have this program, click on "Capture Screen" (top right)
  4. Click on the radio button () which says select with the mouse then where it says "send capture to", click the button () which says "New window"
  5. Outline your doll
  6. Save your pic
  7. Congratulations.  Throw a party.  You've made your first cartoon doll!  Now repeat until you think you've made enough.

If you ever see me (asher) in the avatar palace and you need some props, or help, say hi and tell me what you need.
Britney haters: I got anti- britney avs, signs and pics.  Ask me for them if you want it.

Part four: Editing props

  1. Click on the prop you want to edit
  2. Click on the edit button

A window like this should appear:wpe3.jpg (17887 bytes)
with the prop enlarged.  You can edit the prop any way you want, colour it, draw on it, change it.  I don't care.

  1. When you've finshed editing, write whatever you want in the white box.
  2. Click the OK button

Part Five: How to put your pic up on The Palace as props using Adobe Photoshop...

  1. Open up Adobe Photoshop
  2. Open up the pic you wanna use
  3. Crop out any unwanted bits
  4. Click on "image" on the toolbar
  5. Select "image size" on the pop-up menu
  6. Change the size of your image to any size under 132 pixels, hight and width
    around this size:
    brianpic.BMP (18504 bytes) <<==that's Brian Littrell
  7. Done?  Good.  Now click on "image" on the toolbar again
  8. Then click on "mode" and on "indexed colours" you need to do this so your pic doesn't turn out blue and green
  9. click "ok" for anything that pops up
  10. Click "select all" in the toolbar, or ctrl A
  11. click "copy" or ctrl C
  12. Go to the Palace Software
  13. Click on "edit" on the toolbar
  14. click on "paste multiple props"
  15. open up your prop bag and you'll see your pic there.  Congrats.
